The unique anchor-shaped utility pole will become the new Kaliningrad’s attraction
Modernisation and grid development plans were elaborated at the Kaliningrad region’s energy session.
A 5-year regional energy sector investment programme is estimated at over 30bn RUB. The length of new overhead lines will exceed 176 km. Moreover, the plan stipulates for equipment modernisation at 11 power units.
The session also featured the presentation of unique anchor-shaped utility poles.
The project has the chances of growing into the new regional sight. The local government sees benefits in popularisation of the facility within the upcoming football championship, to be held in this country. Besides, the facility image is likely to be used in trophies’ design.
As a reminder, the fancy poles had been installed prior to the Olympics in Sochi and world football championship in Perm.
However, the engineering project intended for Kaliningrad will be considerably superior to the existing facilities in Sochi and Perm by its dimensions. The height of Kaliningrad’s structure is 110 m, while the existing facilities do not exceed 30 m.
The weight of the projected facility will account for 450 t. The pole installation is to be carried out in 2 stages.
The start of works is scheduled for the end of the year.
It is noteworthy that the poles are resistant to the wind up to 36 mps. Moreover, the operating temperature range of the facility is +35 through -35 degrees. The facility will also be equipped with the signal light for ships to trace it. For the record, the altitude of the HV line suspension will total 63,35 m, which has been initially designed for Krusenstern and Sedov transit.
It is worth mentioning that the unique structure of 330kV line pole will be used for the first time in Kaliningrad. The grid will connect the operating power unit Severnaya and new Pregolskaya TPP.
